  • Letizia worked as a journalist before marrying into the Spanish royal family

Queen Letizia of Spain showed off her toned arms as she stepped out with her husband King Felipe in Madrid this evening.

Letizia, 50, glowed in a recycled, gem-encrusted black and white gown from Felipe Varela as she attended the 39th annual Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Awards in the Spanish capital.

The mother-of-two paired her evening dress with black stilettos and a black clutch bag to attend the event.

She wore black teardrop earrings, which she showed off by tucking her dark brunette locks behind her ears.

The Queen opted for neutral eyeshadow and dark liner with a glossy lip, a touch of bronzer and some blush.

And her phenomenally toned, enviable arms were on show as she strolled alongside her husband in the short-sleeved dress, which she has worn twice before.

Last year she appeared at the 70th edition of the Planeta Novel Prize at the National Art Museum of Catalonia wearing the gown – with the addition of a face mask in line with Covid regulations.

The Queen oozed glamour this evening, after appearing in more business-like attire yesterday as she stepped out for a royal engagement.

Letizia wore a beloved Hugo Boss crimson wrap coat she has worn several times in the past, and paired it with checked black and white trousers from Mango she debuted in 2017 and a leather top she first wore in 2016 as she attended the 10th Summit of Women Jurists in Madrid.

She rocked the smart/casual look in the outfit, which she dressed down by wearing her coat over her shoulders.

The wrap coat has been a staple of her winter wardrobe for years and often makes an appearance at royal events in the run up to Christmas.

Letizia will no doubt be in her element at the awards ceremony as a former journalist herself, who met her husband during an interview in the early 2000s.

Her journalism career saw her report from Washington, in the US, Guadalajara in Mexico and Iraq during the war.

She also broadcast live from ground zero after the 9/11 attacks in September 2001.
