Rosie O’Donnell isn’t worried about her pal Madonna while the internet trolls the singer’s physical appearance.
“You know, Madonna is one of the most famous women in the world and has been my entire lifetime,” she told Page Six in a recent exclusive interview. “And she would get vitriol at her at the height of her fame.
“I remember we were doing ‘A League of Their Own’ and she had brown hair and we would be in an elevator and grown men, you know, would say to her, ‘I like you better as a blond,’” O’Donnell continued. “And she would look at them and go, ‘You know, f–k you.’ And I thought, good for her, man, good for you.”
The Queen of Pop, 64, received a barrage of criticism online following her appearance at the Grammys in February.
She clapped back online soon after.
“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass [sic] the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working, and adventurous,” the “Vogue” singer wrote on social media.
“I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come,” she continued before quoting Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul.”
O’Donnell noted that Madonna has “never had a problem standing up for herself.”
She said, “She knows who she is, what she wants, what she wants to look like, what she wants to wear, what she wants to say. And I think she’s strong enough to weather whatever complaints people have about her now and for always.”

“The View” alum, 61, isn’t the only friend of the singer’s to have her back. Earlier this month, Debi Mazar defended Madonna in an exclusive Page Six interview.
“I don’t pay attention to any of it,” Mazar said. “I think Madonna is beautiful and I don’t pay attention to what people say about me or about anybody.”
“Everyone [on the internet] has an opinion these days and the only way really to survive, only the strong survive, is not to hear all the noise,” she continued.
The actress, who has been open about her struggles with depression, also shared that she is in a good place right now.
“I’m very much on top of it,” she explained. “And I have been since Columbine (school shooting), which is when I went on anti-depression and anxiety medication. And I’m very grateful that I have those medicines and that I take them religiously. I don’t ever skip a day. I’m on top of what I need in order to survive and thrive and be around for my family.”
