Seven celebs who married in their own homes as Stacey Solomon weds at Pickle Cottage
From intimate ceremonies to big social events, everyone loves to marvel at the extravagance of celebrity weddings. And while some stars, like Brooklyn Beckham, opt for the most opulent bash of the season, others turn their nuptials into a private soiree away from prying eyes and unwanted attention.
Although this leaves room for speculation over the glamour of the dress, the decadence of the venue or the dramatic entrance, just knowing how a celebrity plans to celebrate their big can truly inspire the masses.
Stacey Solomon does just that as her hotly-anticipated wedding to fiancé Joe Swash takes place this weekend at their stunning Pickle Cottage. So with that in mind, here are seven superstars and absolute pop royalties who choose to celebrate their special day at their own lavish abodes.
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz
Brooklyn Beckham and American actress Nicola Peltz celebrated their lavish £3 million wedding at Nicola’s family estate in Florida on Saturday 9 April following two years of dating.
The 27-bedroomed Moutsorrel property belongs to billionaire investor Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz, with the estate offering ample room to cater for the couple’s 600-strong guest list.
The classic epitome of Palm Beach style, the mansion boasts a lush white exterior and bright blue shutters, while its 13 acres of land even include a private beach.
According to The Palm Beach Post, the dwelling was built in 1964 by a woman named Anita Young, the sister of artist Georgia O’Keeffe. The property remained in her possession until her death in 1985, after which it was snapped up by Nicola’s parents for a cool $18 million. Today, the venue is estimated to be worth around $103 million.
The young couple wed in front of family and friends including Serena Williams and Gordon Ramsay.
From designer outfits to gourmet food, no expense was spared by the happy couple as they swore off social media to keep their soiree intimate and private for the happy occasion.
Brooklyn has even immortalised his love for his bride permanently inking wedding vows onto his skin after the happy couple took each others’ surnames, becoming Mr and Mrs Peltz Beckham.
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari
Britney Spears and her partner Sam Asghari exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at the star's $7.4 million mansion in Los Angeles after six years of dating.
The pop icon is said to have walked down the aisle to the tune of Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love while wearing a wedding gown designed by Versace inside a lavish marquee filled with hundreds of pink roses and several chandeliers.
Although none of her family, not even her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James were present on the day, guests including Madonna, Drew Barrymore and Donatella Versace witnessed the stunning affair.
But the singer's wedding did get off to a rough start as her ex Jason Alexander was live-streaming when he reportedly trespassed on Britney's wedding venue. Jason – who was married to Britney for 55 hours following a spontaneous Vegas ceremony – was soon arrested and Britney was able to tie the knot.
Paris Hilton and Carter Reum
Paris Hilton has tied the knot with entrepreneur Carter Reum in a star-studded wedding at her late grandfather's Holmby Hills estate.
The heiress became a married woman at the Bel-Air estate and in true Paris fashion, not only was her big day filmed but she documented the entire process, from beginning to end, for the Peacock series, Paris In Love.
Paris, who announced that she was engaged to husband Carter, 40, in February 2021, is said to have exchanged vows in front of both their close friends and family according to Daily Mail.
The three-day affair was filled with A-list stars from longtime bestie Kim Kardashian to The Simple Life pal Nicole Richie on the guest list.
According to the Metro, the TV personality referred to the businessman as her "Prince Charming "and said she finally found her "happy ending" with him after they began dating in 2019.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton
After meeting and falling in love six years ago while on The Voice USA, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton made it official by exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony at Blake's sprawling Oklahoma ranch, Page Six reports.
The lovebirds got engaged back in October, with Gwen taking to Instagram to show off her diamond ring in a gorgeous photo. She simply captioned the post: "yes please! x," alongside an engagement ring and praying hands emojis as she tagged her beau.
A source told People: "They purposely kept the wedding simple. They didn't want a circus. In the end, they just wanted to have this moment with their loved ones," according to the Metro.
Despite keeping the guest list small, there were plenty of lavish touches at the wedding, including Gwen wearing a custom Vera Wang dress featuring a high-low tulle skirt and a plunging neckline for the ceremony, before switching into a mini-dress also by the designer and cowboy boots for the reception.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, formally known as Brangelina, pledged their life-long commitment to each other in an intimate ceremony – attended only by a handful of family and friends – in their £35million estate South of France Chateau Miraval.
The wedding itself was intimate and it's said that the wedding was relaxed and filled with joy as the former couple spent the day with their loved ones.
According to the Metro, the newlyweds are believed to have shed tears when exchanging vows. A source said: "Apparently, both Brad and Angelina were in tears when they said I do.
"Limousines came and went during the day – but not as many as you would expect. It was all very low-key and private," they continued.
Sadly, the marriage only lasted two years and the couple's divorce has since become less than amicable. Brad and Angelina divorced in 2016 and co-parent their six children Shiloh, Maddox, Vivienne, Knox, Zahara and Pax.
Opening up about the end of her 12 year relationship, Angelina told Vogue Global Network: “I separated for the wellbeing of my family. It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their healing.“
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
Camron Diaz went against the odds and married boyfriend Benji Madden. The Hollywood actress got hitched at her Beverly Hills mansion in 2015 after dating for just seven months.
As reported by the Mail Online, Cameron said: "I waited because I didn't want to settle. Now I got the best man ever. My special man. He's mine."
Cameron and Benji confirmed to People magazine: "We couldn't be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends."
According to ENews when the actress appeared on Andy Cohen's Radio Andy, she said: "We got married in our living room in front of our friends. Had a little party in our backyard on the tennis court and yeah. Otherwise, it would have been something else."
The two tend to keep their relationship very private, however, since tying the knot, Benji reportedly had his wife's name tattooed on his chest, permanently declaring his love for her.
Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma
Hilary Duff married singer and record producer Matthew Koma at an intimate wedding ceremony held in the front garden of their L.A. home in December 2019 after nearly three years.
"Our wedding isn't over-the-top 'wedding-y' – it's more understated and for me, that's more powerful," Hilary told Vogue.
The beautiful wedding saw the Cinderella Story actress apparently walking down the aisle in a gorgeous gown from Jenny Packham, while carrying her and Matthew’s then one-year-old daughter Banks, to meet her groom and her seven-year-old son Luca (who she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie) at the altar.
The pair now have a second daughter who they welcomed in March 2021. And in a sweet Instagram snap Hillary wrote: "Mae James Bair- We LOVE you beauty 3-24-21."
