Signs Love Islands Ekin-Su and Davide had split from absent photos to cryptic comments

Love Island winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti have gone their separate ways. The former couple became fan favourites of the 2022 summer series but have split less than a year after winning the show.

The Italian model Davide, 27, announced on Thursday 30 June that they have called quits on their relationship. Posting the news on his Instagram story, Davide shared with fans and wrote: "@ekinsuofficial &I are no longer together.

"I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best.

"I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time, I will continue to support Ekin in anyway possible," the star added.

While Turkish actress Ekin-Su, 28, is yet to share her own statement, she has been enjoying some time out with her family. Just six hours prior to Davide's announcement she posted a family snap and wrote the caption "finally reunited with mum and auntie."

The news shocked Love Island fans who thought the couple were in it for the long run, while others had their suspicions after social media posts suggested something was up along with some cryptic comments. We take a closer look at all the signs the pair would part ways…

Social media absence

It didn't take long for eagle-eyed fans to notice that Ekin-Su was noticeably absent from Davide's Instagram account recently. The last snap of them together was from the Indiana Jones premiere earlier this week, but there was no mention of her in the caption according to The Sun.

He reportedly posted two singular shots of himself, before sharing one of them together from the premiere. While Ekin-Su shared the post on Wednesday and referred to Davide as "my man" in the caption, he failed to make a comment.

But before this, he hadn't posted anything of Ekin-Su or of them together since March 13 when he shared their Maldives vlog. Davide's Instagram now features a bundle of solo shots while he's kept their Love Island winner's post pinned on his account.

Ekin-Su's Instagram has been lacking a little too following the recent Indiana Jones premiere post. On May 16 she posted a snap as they tested out a sofa together, but before this, the only post together was the Maldives vlog back in March.

Messaging other women

The pair looked as loved up as ever during their Maldives trip in March this year, with their vlog sharing funny tiffs and affectionate moments together. Sadly, it wasn't all positive as the former couple were dogged by claims that Davide had been messaging other women and spotted with others on nights out.

Davide allegedly met up with Instagram influencers in Manchester before exchanging messages with them. Ekin-Su reportedly found the messages after returning from a work trip to Belfast in April and then messaged one of the girls herself in a bid to find out what had been going on.

A source close to the couple said at the time: "It all exploded last Sunday after she found messages on Davide’s phone discussing their time together."

The insider continued to The Sun: "Ekin-Su contacted one of the girls to tell them she knew about things. She was furious and really upset."

Cryptic comments

Ekin-Su also made some cryptic comments that suggested a future without Davide. Before news emerged that the pair had split the former Love Islander told The Sun this week that she was considering moving to Turkey to pursue her acting dreams.

She said: "I would actually love to go back to Turkey at some point and reconnect with some old agencies out there, who I was in a soap with.

"I speak both English and Turkish so why can't I have a career in both countries?"
