From a cheeky moggy hanging off a curtain rail to a bird taking off with some toys, there’s no denying that the competition for the title of UK’s Most Mischievous Pet was fierce this year.

Camera company Wex Photo Video was inundated with images from doting pet owners across the UK when they opened the competition earlier this year.

But after careful consideration, the judges have selected a very boisterous Great Dane as their winner.

Teddy, from Larne, Northern Ireland, scooped the title after his owner Chris Jordan snapped a hilarious photo of him out with the family.

The winning image shows the sandy-coloured pooch running away from Chris’ partner – who is busy playing with their young daughter.

Great Dane Teddy, from Larne, Northern Ireland, won the title of UK’s Most Mischievous Pet thanks to this hilarious photo of him running away with his owner’s trainer

With a cheeky glint in his eye, Teddy is seen dashing away from his owner while carrying her navy trainer in his mouth.

Chris explained: ‘He is renowned for taking things from around the house and claiming them as his own.

‘I was trying to take a picture of the family but managed to catch him in the act of triumphantly trotting off with my wife’s shoe.

‘He certainly knows how to steal the show!’

As the winner of the competition, Teddy’s owner Chris will receive one of the brand’s Petcube cameras as well as a photoshoot with award-winning dog photographer Cat Race.

What’s more, the brand also shared the runners up in the competition.

Representing the bird population was Truffle the cockatiel – who lives with their doting owners in Leeds.

Truffle’s family submitted a hilarious photo of the cheeky bird making off with a piece of Lego as one of their children plays in the background.

Mouse, from Leicester, tried  to pretend they had nothing to do with his owner’s shredded garden cushions

Meanwhile, Mouse the greyhound – who lives in Leicester – did their best to look innocent while surrounded by feathers from the pillows they’d just ripped to shreds.

But unfortunately for the sweet pooch, a suspect white feather which had landed on their nose gave the game away.

What’s more, a bold Labrador was also snapped trying to hop their owner’s garden fence – having scaled their way up some scaffolding.

On top of this, a playful cat, from Atherstone, Warwickshire, was seen happily testing his pull-up skills on their owner’s beloved curtain rails.

However, this wasn’t the only cheeky cat to make the shortlist – as another grey moggy was snapped standing IN their owner’s fridge.

This dog – who stuck its head through a peep board with its owner – also made the final shortlist

And while one mischievous dog refused to let go of their owner’s hairbrush, another happily stuck its head through a peep board to pose for a photo with their owner.

Paul Wareham, Marketing Director at Wex Photo Video said: ‘We were really impressed, and amused, at the level of mischief displayed by all the pets in the competition, but Teddy’s cunning shoe-stealing skills and the beautiful resulting photograph by his owner proved him a worthy winner.

‘The overwhelming response we had to the competition highlights the deep bond we form with our pets – and how the perfect photo can capture their playful characters.’
