Top baby names of the year so far revealed

If you’re expecting in the next few months, it’s likely you’re scrambling through potential baby names right now.

Perhaps you’re going for something traditional? A family name? Or maybe something a little more off the beaten path?

If you’re looking for inspiration, Nameberry has revealed the top baby names of 2023 so far.

While we won’t find out this year’s official rankings until well into 2024, the experts at Nameberry have done the hard work for us – and put together a list of the popular names so far.

Although, it’s worth pointing out these are currently the favourites in the US, not the UK.

The latest US popularity charts – currently topped by Liam and Olivia – represent babies born way back in 2021. So if you want to find out the names parents-to-be are considering now, this is where these lists come in handy.

There are two new top spots – with Luxury replacing Maeve as the most popular girl name of 2023 so far, and Aire beating Soren as the most popular boy name.

So it seems, once again, celebrities and TV shows may have swayed the top 10 lists.

Other top trends for this year, according to the platform, include short names with long vowels (including the likes of Arlo, Ivy and Otto), as well as dark academia names (we’re looking at you Alistair, Beatrix, Cordelia and Magnus).

These are the favourites of 2023 so far…
