Wetherspoons reveals new menu items including katsu curry and halloumi burgers | The Sun

WETHERSPOONS has unveiled a range of new dishes as it revamps its menu next week.

The bargain boozer is launching eight new menu items across its pubs in England, Scotland and Wales from Wednesday, November 2.

Wetherspoons is known for its bargain pub classic meals including fish and chips, steaks and burgers.

The chain last revamped its menu back in March when it took inspiration from KFC.

Spoons customers saw four new boneless chicken dishes much like those served at KFC, and all served in a basket.

And now customers will soon be able to order new Katsu curry options, revamped burgers, old pub classics and a range of salads.

We've asked Wetherspoons if it plans to pull any items off its menu to make room for the new options.

We've also asked the pub chain to confirm the prices of the new menu items.

The latest menu refresh will see a number of different options within the new meal offerings.

What's new on the menu?

The pubs will be serving the curry dish in three varieties.

Customers will be able to pick between a:

  • Katsu chicken curry with sliced breaded chicken escalope
  • Katsu grilled chicken curry with sliced grilled chicken breast
  • Katsu Quorn nugget curry served with eight coated pieces

All katsu curries are served with curry sauce, coconut-flavour rice, sliced chillies and coriander.

New burgers

The pub chain is also revamping its burger offerings by introducing a smaller 3-ounce patty.

The burger, like its regular 6-ounce and 9-ounce counterpart, is available in four styles:

  • American burger – served with red onion, gherkin, ketchup and American-style mustard
  • Classic beef burger – served with Cos lettuce, tomato and red onion
  • Skinny beef burger – served with Cos lettuce, tomato, red onion and a side salad instead of chips
  • The American cheeseburger – served with American-style cheese, red onion, gherkin, ketchup and American-style mustard

All meals apart from the skinny beef burger are served with chips.

As well as the classic, Wetherspoons is introducing two new burger choices.

A fried halloumi-style cheeseburger served with sweet chilli sauce as well as a "heatwave" burger with the option of either grilled chicken breast or fried buttermilk chicken.

The heatwave burger includes Naga chilli mayo, American-style cheese and a hash brown, topped with a spicy chicken wing.

The halloumi burger is served with chips and the heatwave burger is served with chips and six onion rings.

New salads

Customers will also be able to choose from two new salad dishes added to the salads and pasta range.

The pub is launching the burrito salad bowl which combines spicy rice, cheese, roasted pepper, courgette and onion, served with tortilla chips, guacamole and sliced chillies.

Customers can also grab a grilled halloumi-style cheese and roasted vegetable salad, with roasted pepper, courgette, onion and pico de Gallo.

New pub classics

The bargain boozer will also introduce bangers and mash and a steak and kidney pudding.

The bangers and mash meal is served with three Lincolnshire sausages, Maris Piper mashed potato, peas and gravy.

It’s also available as a vegetarian option served with three Quorn sausages.

The steak and kidney pudding combines prime cuts of British beef steak and kidney in a rich, meaty sauce, encased in a traditional steamed suet pudding shell.
