A Wright Family Holiday landed on BBC One on Thursday evening, with viewers tuning in to watch Mark Wright, his dad Mark Senior and his brother Josh embark on an adventure around the UK.

During the opening episode, the trio visited Snowdonia and took on a caving challenge together where they had to abseil 400m down a disused mine.

Mark, in particular, struggled with the challenge as he could not see the ground and was surrounded by darkness.

However, he and his loved ones managed to complete the task at hand before enjoying a cosy evening around a fire in a cabin they were staying in.

The episode divided BBC viewers, with some questioning why their TV licence was being used to fund their holiday.

Robert Rowley penned: “#AWrightFamilyHoliday BBC don’t really help themselves do they?”

@Flsimon12 fumed: “Has licence payers’ money really been spent on this? #awrightfamilyholiday.”

Kaytee said: “So the BBC are using licence payers’ money to pay for a bunch of male millionaires to have a family holiday which gets filmed? #awrightfamilyholiday.”

Angie remarked: “Why do I get the feeling #awrightfamilyholiday is a BBC version of ITV’s Breaking Dad!”

When asked about the best activity of the trip, Mark said it had to be skydiving while the sun was setting.
