Adam Thomas teases Emmerdale return after his BBC Waterloo Road comeback

Adam Thomas has teased a potential return to hit ITV soap Emmerdale after his recent BBC Waterloo Road comeback.

Appearing on Wednesday's episode of chatshow Lorraine, the actor, 34, who played Adam Barton in the village until 2018, was grilled about his next TV projects.

It comes as Adam made his return as Donte Charles on the reboot of hit BBC One series, Waterloo Road, on Tuesday night, where on-screen wife Chlo (Katie Griffiths) was killed off in the first episode.

And with a return to Waterloo Road, host Lorraine Kelly wanted to know if there could be an Emmerdale comeback anytime soon.

To which Adam joked: "Do you know something that I don't?!"

Asked about whether it's a "brilliant" place to work and if he "misses" his friends, Adam said: "Oh, it's the best!

"That's what I miss the most as well is the cast and the actors that work there, they're just incredible.

"You genuinely do become such a huge family, I miss them all so much. So look, never say never, I would love to go back one day!

"If the story was right, then yeah, definitely. Like it's always held a special place in my heart, Emmerdale, and yeah. I've got some friends from there, Danny Miller, Kelvin Fletcher, we'll be friends for life."

It comes as Waterloo Road's Chlo star Katie broke her silence after her character was killed off in the first episode of the new rebooted series on Tuesday night in a huge twist.

Viewers were left heartbroken during the opening instalment as Chlo, who was hit by a car earlier in the episode and appeared to just have a sprained wrist, suddenly collapsed at home and it was later revealed she had died in hospital.

And after the incredibly short-lived return and her character's shocking death, Chlo star Katie has addressed her dramatic exit from the hit BBC One series.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Katie, 33, who first joined Waterloo Road at just 17, said: "Waterloo Road has got a very big place in my heart and I think it's the same for anyone who has watched it and been a part of it. I started my career there and it is a show that lots of fans love, and it's got a new audience now, which is really exciting."

She added about only returning for one episode: "It’s been hard because there’s been a lot of excitement for the show, but I think that was the overriding thing, the excitement for the show coming back because it holds a special place in my heart.

"When I had the initial sit down meeting with the producers and they told me what would happen, I think the bigger picture was just isn’t it amazing that I get to go back into the character again and work with Adam again and be part of it.

"It is sad that I won’t have that again but I’m just very excited for the show and to see what comes of it."
