Amanda Holden soaked and close to tears as she reaches major milestone on ‘horrific’ Three Peaks challenge | The Sun

AMANDA Holden was left soaked and close to tears as she completed the Three Peaks challenge.

The Britain's Got Talent judge, 51, climbed some of the highest mountains in Wales, England and Scotland for Heart's charity Global's Make Some Noise.

On Friday morning, Amanda successfully completed her challenge as she summited the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, live on air.

Amanda said the challenge was “the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life” and celebrated by popping a bottle of champagne at the highest point of the UK – the top of Ben Nevis – at 4,411 feet.

Amanda tackled every element during the challenge including severe weather warnings, 60mph winds, rain and snow.

The TV favourite climbed the three peaks on no sleep and scaling two of the mountains in the pitch black.

Amanda started the challenge on Thursday morning, scaling the first peak Snowdon, Wales.

Following that she climbed England’s highest mountain Scafell Pike and finally completed the challenge by climbing Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.

Speaking to her Heart Breakfast co-host Jamie Theakston on-air at the top of Ben Nevis, Amanda said: “We made it by the skin of our teeth, it was horrific.

"You know, I never understand when I see people give up at the end, but for the first time in my life I thought, I’m not going to do it, I’m not going to make it, I’m going to give up, but we kept going.

Last night, the Heart radio star updated fans on her progress and revealed that she was at the foot of Ben Nevis mountain.

Looking exhausted but glamorous in a full face of make-up, Amanda said: "We have just driven through the night and I didn't sleep but I did reapply.

"We are at the foot of Ben Nevis – the rain has stopped which I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

"You know we haven't really had that much time to rest.

"Wake up on Saturday morning, I'm expecting breakfast in bed from my husband."

The star beamed for a snap as she beamed at the top of the mountain.

Amanda was supported by Britain’s Got Talent co-stars Simon Cowell and David Walliams both donated to her Three Peaks challenge – but only one of them gave her money.

Amanda said: “David Walliams made me a car package and he gave me nipple cream which you would expect.

“I am going to use it on my lips and face.

“He also gave me some chafing cream and a she-pee. David gave me loads of practical things like blister plasters and a mirror. I have no idea why he picked that. You never know who will be at the top.”

Asked what their BGT co-star Simon Cowell had offered, Amanda added: “I know Simon will have donated, he is so generous.

“When I set up Theo’s foundation he gave me a hefty sum so I know he will have done. And if he hasn’t, his PR will read this article and make sure he does donate.”
