Barbara Windsor's widower finds love with EastEnders star three years on
Scott Mitchell, Barbara Windsor’s widower, is in a new relationship, three years on from the EastEnders star’s death.
The Carry On and soap legend, who played Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell, died at the age of 83 in 2020.
Her death came after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2014 and ever since, Scott – who married Barbara in 2000 – has been passionate about raising awareness and has even taken on the London Marathon with Barbara’s friends and EastEnders co-stars to raise money for Dementia Revolution.
Now, three years on from Barbara’s death, Scott has begun a new relationship with Tanya Franks.
Tanya, 55, is best known for playing Rainie Cross in the BBC One soap and has been spending time with Scott on holiday in Greece.
Scott, 60, told The Sun: ‘Life feels really good right now and we are enjoying some special time together’.
A source close to Barbara’s friends and family added to the publication that they’re happy Scott has found love again.
Metro.co.uk has contacted Scott’s representative for a comment.
Tanya is one of the many EastEnders stars who have taken part in running the London Marathon in Barbara’s name.
She left her role as Rainie last year after she reunited with husband Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) and decided to start a new life elsewhere with their son, Roland, who is Bernie’s (Clair Norris) biological child.
A source told Metro.co.uk at the time that Rainie had been written out for storyline purposes but didn’t rule out a return in the future.
‘Rainie has always been a character that has come and gone in the show for stints and the story naturally reached a point where the character had an ending of sorts.’
