BBC Breakfast fans swooned over Sally Nugent’s 'rock chick' leather outfit – but had a burning question.

Sally, 51, was back on the BBC Breakfast sofa alongside Jon Kay today, reporting on the latest news and topics around the country.

While Jon, 53, was suited and booted as usual, Sally opted for a more unexpected ensemble.

The journalist wore a pair of black slim fit trousers with a purple leather biker style jacket.

The jacket featured gold zips up the front and on the wrists, and immediately got viewers at home commenting on Twitter.

One wrote: "@sallynugent Loving the biker look, can't wait for Newswatch complainers :)."

However, another viewer had a burning question based off today's outfit.

They wrote: "How come the female presenters on
@BBCBreakfast get to dress more fabulous and more casual than the male presenters who have to dress in more stiff looking suit and ties.
