BBC Breakfast guest Gillian Cloke, Michael’s mum, was left emotional as one viewer decided to help the family with their issue.

Appearing on the show the day before, Gillian revealed they had to hire a wheelchair for Michael to use as the airline still hadn’t been able to locate theirs, days after landing.

Catching up with Gillian in Paris on Sunday morning, presenters Roger Johnson and Sarah Campbell told her many people got in touch after her interview to offer help and advice.

One of which was BBC viewer John Knipe, the managing director of Bann Mobility.

Joining them on the show virtually from Portadown, he told Gillian “We as a company have decided to donate a new wheelchair to Michael.

“Hopefully tomorrow, our dispatch department will get one off to you asap. Hopefully, overnight, you should have it on Tuesday on your arrival back from Paris.”

As he revealed the kind gesture, the mum was gobsmacked as she started to wipe her tears away.

Overcome with emotion, Gillian said: “Really?! That’s fantastic, oh my goodness. I’m speechless, that is marvellous.”

John told the two hosts their company will try to do anything they can to help people in Michael’s situation, which prompted him to donate the wheelchair.

Gillian replied: “My family will tell you I’m not often speechless, but I am with this. It has been difficult.”

During their chat, Gillian gave an update on the missing wheelchair as she confessed there’s been no progress.

Questioning what the response from the airline has been, she revealed their family have “written it off” at this point due to them being unable to find it.

After thanking John for his kind gesture, viewers of the show were moved by the donation as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
