Emmerdale Caleb star teases there’s ‘huge potential’ for Nicky’s mum to arrive

Nicky Milligan's mysterious mum could make her bombshell Emmerdale debut in the near future.

The ex of Caleb Milligan has been mentioned by both Nicky and Caleb over the last few months.

Caleb has made it clear that he and his wife were no longer together and previously told his son he needed to get used to the fact he was separated from his mother.

Nicky told his now ex-fiancé Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) that his mum had passed away and he was forced to bring up his younger siblings when they first met.

However, she is alive and actor William Ash, who plays Caleb, has said that they'd both like to see the character turn up in the village.

William told Daily Star and other press: "There's huge potential for Caleb's ex wife and Nicky's mum.

"There's already a bit of a picture of that character even though she's never been in it. We've talked about her quite a lot."

"Caleb had a line talking to Leyla [Harding, played by Roxy Shahidi] about his kids, plural.

"I've never had that discussion with producers or anything but Nicky may have siblings and I may have other kids and there's potential for those characters to come into it and I think it would be nice to flesh it out.

"There's a lot of backstory there I think."

Caleb is pushed over a ravine by a mystery figure in upcoming scenes after being followed into the woods.

Opening up about whodunnit drama, Will explained: "I found out about it I think just before we were doing the whole thing when he's trying to take over from Home Farm, so I knew it was going to be from the fallout of that.

"I knew there'd be quite a few people it could be but I was excited about it because it's always nice to throw that out there that there's potential for this character who's just come in to be killed off."

It's good and the conflict which can rise from that and the potential who it could be, I was excited by it."

Fans will have to wait and see if Caleb survives the murder attempt.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
