BBC Breakfast ‘makeover’ sparks frenzy as viewers slam ‘complete mess’

BBC Breakfast viewers have been left unimpressed with the newly designed set as many believe presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent now look uncomfortable.
Taking to Twitter, @DaleSau69941842 fumed: “Shocking Why change something that worked even the presenters look uncomfortable bring back the old sofa.”
@Jeffrey73945880 commented: “Given it 45 minutes.Awful.Morning sky news.”
@BOSSNANNY1 added: “What the hell is going on with this new set? it looks a complete mess.”
@mbpix_8 said: “OMG what is going on at BBC Breakfast? Have you gone tabloid? The bright colours! Orange and blue! Presenters standing up! Raised platforms! I thought I was watching Good Morning Britain. WHY? What bright spark thought this one up? Not a positive step.”
However, some viewers praised the change as user @Brekkietweets added: “A new look is so much more effective when new graphics and a new studio launch simultaneously. Well done #BBCBreakfast and the team up in Salford.”

Although the show is still being broadcast from Salford’s Media City, it’s now much larger than the old studio with three additional cameras and high-tech graphics.
The iconic red sofa has remained in its place, however, host Sally Nugent was seen standing during certain segments as opposed to constantly sitting alongside Jon.

During Monday’s show, weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was seen in the studio with the presenters as opposed to being displayed on a separate screen.
Complimenting the different set-up, Sally said: “I like your new weather map, very very posh.”
Carol replied: “I’m used to being in a broom cupboard to do the weather in the morning.
“So it’s so nice to be able to walk over and walk back, it’s a whole new world for me.”
The new studio will now serve as the broadcasting location for the daily Sportsday programme along with live bulletins on BBC One and BBC News.

Sally and Jon shared their thoughts on the change ahead of its grand reveal as she commented: “The new studio is a wonderful addition to BBC Breakfast, and I can’t wait to host the first live morning show on the 26th of June.
“We have recently celebrated our 40th anniversary and this is a great gift to mark the occasion.”
Echoing Sally’s enthusiasm, Jon added: “Our new studio is state of the art and we couldn’t be more pleased with it. We’re looking forward to bringing the public the same BBC Breakfast they know and love from a fresh new setting.”
BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
