BBC Breakfast star Victoria Fritz branded herself the "luckiest woman alive" as she replaced permanent host Sally Nugent on the red sofa.

Sally usually presents the show from Monday to Wednesday each week alongside the newest permanent host Jon Kay, who has been absent for the entire week.

Though Sally was in work on Monday and Tuesday, hosting alongside Ben Thompson, it seemed she had opted for a day's holiday on Wednesday – leaving Victoria to step in for her.

And in a sweet snap posted to her social media on Tuesday night, Victoria was chuffed with the line-up, while fans were desperate to see her on-screen.

She headed out for drinks and a meal with her new co-host Ben, alongside business correspondent Ben Boulos, telling fans: "Ssshh… whisper it… But the stars have aligned… this may well be your line-up for tomorrow morning on @BBCBreakfast… Luckiest woman alive?"

She went on to tag both Bens in her tweet – sending fans wild.

On the morning of her presenting stint, Victoria once again turned to update her Twitter followers, teasing: "Behind the scenes on @BBCBreakfast.

"Featuring shoes… toast… and the delectable @BBCBenThompson. Go put the kettle on & come join us."

Her fans, meanwhile, were loving the shake-up, as one replied: "You look fabulous and your voice and diction are so clear, it is a pleasure to listen. When will you be on Strictly or Bake off? Such a great personality."

Another echoed: "Great to see you this morning @VFritzNews brightening the day."

"What?… What! Just switched across from another great prog to find you on the red sofa. The world is a good place today," someone else swooned.

A fourth fan couldn't resist branding the hosting duo the "dream team".
