BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty left with 'blood gushing from her leg' after horror accident on honeymoon | The Sun

BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty was left with 'blood gushing from her leg' after a horror accident on her honeymoon.

The 47-year-old journalist has been married to television director and broadcast consultant husband James Haggar since 2007.

The couple honeymooned in Mauritius, but what should have been a romantic trip turned into a nightmare after Naga suffered a horrible accident on the second day.

As a consequence, doctors told her to stay out of the water for the rest of the trip, leaving her bored stiff.

She told Alan Carr's Life's a Beach podcast: "I'm not a sunlounger person. I don't do that.

"So – this sounds awful – one of the most boring holidays I had was my honeymoon – and not for the reasons you may think.”

She explained: "The honeymoon side was fine. It was all good.

"I got into the sea, hung onto the pontoon and there were barnacles on the post underneath.

"I didn't realise and slashed my leg. I decided not to tell anyone.

“Did my water ski round for about 15 to 20 minutes. I came off and blood was gushing from my leg."

She continued: "I had to have little mini stitches in it and couldn't shower the leg for the rest of the honeymoon.

“Couldn't do any more water sports so literally had to sit on a beach or go to the tea plantation. I was a bit bored. And read a lot."

Naga previously revealed that she and James never celebrate Valentine's Day.

She told BBC Radio 5 Live co-host Nihal Arthanayake: “I never do! I sound quite forceful when I say that, don't I? I have quite strong opinions!”

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
