A BBC Breakfast star was missing from his usual spot on the BBC Breakfast sofa for the third time running this week.

The 61-year-old presenter Charlie Stayt, who regularly sits alongside co-host Naga Munchetty from Thursday to Sunday, has been replaced by Ben Thompson and Roger Johnson.

Sharing the top headlines with viewers across the country was Ben Thompson who stepped in on Thursday and Friday, however it was Roger Johnson took over for Charlie on Saturday.

It's not yet known if Charlie will return on Sunday or who will fill in for him if he doesn't.

While it's not clear why Charlie is away from the programme, he's not the only presenter who has been missing from the red sofa recently.

The presenter shake up comes as Jon Kay is currently off on annual leave.

Meanwhile Naga was back in the studio after she took a trip to the hospital to donate blood on Friday , July 21.

Sharing a video on Instagram, the 48-year-old said to the camera: "I've just done the Breakfast shift and just nipped in to give some blood, it will over in about 15 to 20 minutes.

"I'm feeling good but the thing that makes me feel most good is that hopefully it will save someone's life."

She captioned the clip: "Good morning! @bbcbreakfast work done, now giving a little bit of me to hopefully make someone's day a bit better in the future."

The journalist was then flooded with support from fans, with many of them thanking her for donating blood.

One said: "Thank you, and thank you too everyone else who donates blood. I needed 5 units back in 2015, and I might not be here without the people who donated that blood, forever grateful ."

Another fan commented: "Lovely Naga on the money, it’s a great feeling giving a pint of the red stuff. Something so easy for most of us can truly make a difference to someone else."

While a third said: "Good work Naga, and hopefully seeing this will convince others to do it!"

And a fourth added: "Used to donate but now over the upper age limit. Well done to those who can, and for those who haven't it is fine and the biscuits and tea are lovely."

In another show shake-up, fans were greeted with meteorologist Louise Lear who shared the latest weather updates with viewers across the country.

Carol Kirkwood presents the weather from Monday to Friday, while her replacement is often Matt Taylor.
