BBC Breakfast’s Nina Warhurst supported by co-stars after tragic death news

BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst has been supported by her co-stars and fans after revealing a close member of her family has passed away.

The 42-year-old is a regular presenter on the morning programme and often appears as business correspondent when she's not sat on the red sofa.

The newsreader has built quite the fanbase and they rushed to support her after she revealed the heartbreaking news on her Twitter account.

Taking to the platform with a sweet snap smiling at her grandad, Nina penned: "A beautiful day to say goodbye to my Grandad Michael Jackson, born 100 years ago.

"Salford, to Ireland, to war, where he witnessed the liberation of Bergen Belsen, before raising our Manc rabble.

"42 years of his wisdom and love – one of the greatest fortunes of my life."

The post was flooded with comments by co-stars who sent their condolences.

Nina's former BBC Breakfast colleague Steph McGovern shared: "What a brilliant picture and clearly a cracking man. Sending love."

BBC journalist Felicity Hannah added: "Even just the photos behind him suggest a full life! Hope the day was as good as was possible x."

BBC Breakfast weather presenter Matt Taylor wrote: "Love that photo Nina xx."

Many of Nina's Twitter followers also flocked to the comments to share their love and support.

This comes after Nina announced she would be co-hosting the BBC's official Eurovision podcast.

Nina revealed Swedish Eurovision presenter and winner Måns Zelmerlöw will also be joining her on the podcast.

The mother of two told presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent that she is on a mission to change people's opinions on the song contest.

She said: "I am on a mission to convince people, the snearers, because most of my life people have laughed at me for how much I love Eurovision.

"This is the year that people will realise they have been wrong, for all of these decades!"
