BBC slammed over ‘boring’ Coronation coverage

Watch live: Coronation of King Charles III

BBC viewers tuned in to watch King Charles III and Queen Camilla take the gold carriage from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey on Saturday.

The royal’s family and celebrity friends were also invited to the event to celebrate his Coronation.

Thousands of fans lined the streets to witness the event, and many were seen clapping and cheering from the sidelines.

The broadcaster gave extensive coverage of the Coronation and saw Huw Edwards presenting from Westminster Abbey.

Joining Huw and Kirsty Edwards to present the coverage were Mishal Husain and James Naughtie, who reported from the processional route.

Footage also showed Prince Harry arriving at Westminster Abbey, and the royal was all smiles as he entered the church.

However, some viewers were unhappy by the BBC’s coverage, with many branding it “boring”.

Others slammed the “sound” issues the broadcaster had when King Charles and Queen Camilla left Buckingham Palace.

Many also felt ITV’s coverage of the event was much better than its rival channel.

Taking to Twitter, @soylilailah complained: “Watching the #coronation in the BBC World it’s like be watching a funeral. My God! it’s a great day, be more enthusiastic please!!” (sic)

While @lavender736 added: “#Coronation FAR TOO MUCH MUSIC !!!!! Not enough commentary about the guests, the arrivals, who are they etc. #BBCcoverage #music #commentary.” (sic)

Ben tweeted: “My goodness, this is boring. @BBCOne #Coronation.”

Picking fault with the sound, @40SomethingTalk pleaded: “@BBCOne Fix the sound problems on your coverage of the coronation please! #Coronation #BBC.”

@myrebelvoice raged: “Congrats @BBCOne for having sound issues… what a brilliant time to get it wrong! #Coronation.”

@KelvSTO commented:”@BBCOne sort the audio out #Coronation.”

However, some viewers seemed to enjoy the BBC’s coverage, with @JamesFlanderss writing: “Goosebumps already! Fantastic coverage by the BBC unlike Sky News which seems more interested in covering the republicans protesting… #Coronation.” (sic)
