BBC Breakfast presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay were left giggling after their co-star made an accidental slip up while presenting the morning's weather forecast.

The hosting duo were in the BBC Breakfast studio as they passed over to their colleague Matt Taylor, who was standing in for fan favourite Carol Kirkwood.

He presented the forecast but made an unfortunate error as he rounded up his bulletin as he got dry and grey mixed up in a tongue twister moment.

Jon said: "We like 'drey'! Just about sums it up."

Matt then shrugged his shoulders and replied: "Dry and grey, why not put it together, eh?"

Sally then joined in: "Drey and gry."

Taylor asked if they "knew what he meant," to which Kay responded with a "totally" and Sally joked that it could be a "new weather term".

Sally then turned to the camera and said: "We've just checked, apparently it's still dark where we are this morning, so I don't know."

Kay then added that they "couldn't even see if it was foggy outside" as Sally laughed.

The hilarious moment comes after BBC Breakfast fans were recently left fuming over the amount of World Cup coverage the show was focussing on.

The day before (29 November), England were due to play head to head with Wales as the first Home Nations to compete.

Such a historic moment meant that early morning news show had reporters in Wales and in Doha, the capital of Qatar and where the 2022 World Cup is taking place.

However, some BBC viewers were left disappointed as they tuned in to hear the news, but instead were faced with an influx of World Cup coverage.

One reporter based in Swansea, Wales, was in a school and spoke to excited children dressed in football kits as they repeatedly screamed at the camera.

The other reporter in Doha was on location to inform home viewers about the upcoming event.

Fans took to social media to call out BBC and branded their coverage as "cheesy" and "too much," while others simply asked for some "actual news".

Others flocked to compare the show to Good Morning Britain, who were "reporting on crack-downs in China" and another viewer joked that people would think "the whole world lived in Wales".
