In a new article, the renowned media outlet claims that the 27-year-old K-Pop idol may be eligible for a nomination at the prestigious Emmy Awards for her appearance on the HBO show.
AceShowbiz –BLACKPINK‘s Jennie may earn a new milestone for her appearance on “The Idol“. In a new article, Forbes claimed that the 27-year-old K-Pop singer may be eligible for a nomination at the prestigious Emmy Awards.
In the article published on Monday, June 19, the renowned media outlet stated that the star may take on more acting and solo activities, while still doing her duties as a member of her group. “Jennie’s performance on ‘The Idol’, makes her eligible for prestigious accolades, including an Emmy,” it wrote.
“However, it remains to be seen if she will be submitted as a contender for the coveted title,” the outlet continued. “Additionally, the music associated with the show might open doors for her to be considered for Grammy nominations in different categories.”
In response to the article, fans appeared to think that it was exaggerated since Jennie appeared for not more than five minutes on the show. “I love jennie but this isn’t it. Maybe give her more acting gigs so she can flourish. A 5 min appearance then calling for an emmy nomination will make others hate her more,” one fan said.
“Love her but let’s be real she had like 3 lines and 2 minutes screen time,” someone else echoed the sentiment. “She has the potential but she still got a long way to go, come on,” another fan added.
On the HBO series, Jennie plays Dyanne, a backup dancer who is a close friend of Lily-Rose Depp‘s Jocelyn. The “Pink Venom” hitmaker initially faced backlash for her participation on the controversial series, which many dubbed “a sexual torture porn” due to the amount of nudity and its disturbing sex scene.
It was also recently reported that Jennie would join Marvel Cinematic Universe as a K-Pop superhero. According to Allkpop, the 27-year-old singer will be playing K-pop singer and superhero Luna Snow a.k.a. Seol Hee, who is a member of MCU’s first-ever Asian superhero team. Co-created by Marvel Games’ Danny Koo, Bill Rosemann, Netmarble’s Min Kyun Kim and JeeHyung Lee, the character was made for the mobile game “Marvel Future Fight” as part of a joint collaboration.
However, Jennie’s agency, YG Entertainment, debunked the report. “It is not true that Jennie received an offer to be part of the Marvel project,” the agency stressed.
