He’s only been a Britain’s Got Talent judge for a short while, but Bruno Tonioli is already causing chaos. He left the audience in Manchester gobsmacked at the recent live auditions with a stunt. The former Strictly Come Dancing judge was given a crossbow to fire at Simon Cowell, but he and the crowd were taken aback after Simon pretended to be taken down and hurt by the arrow.

The stunt came following an act who had been performing a routine that involved shooting balloons off someone’s head without hurting them.

When Simon and Bruno appeared on the stage, the audience assumed they were going to have a go at the same stunt.

Bruno was selected to fire the weapon and was blindfolded.

However, Simon decided to play a trick on the former Strictly Come Dancing judge.

Staff rigged up Simon so that it appeared a crossbow arrow was sticking out of his chest.

TikTok footage of the incident posted to the site by user @tvellz shows Bruno holding the crossbow.

Head judge Simon stood before him, and although he was unable to see he shot the weapon.

Simon lay on the floor playing dead, but as far as Bruno was concerned, the arrow connected with him and he was seriously injured.

As medics rush over, a clearly shocked Bruno can’t believe what happened.

While Simon was obviously fine, they really milked it, letting Bruno think he had shot the show boss.

Medics continued to work on the music mogul while Bruno looked stunned.

While no doubt they thought this would be a funny segment for the show, not everyone approved of the twisted joke.

Laura Sugden, who was wounded in a crossbow attack that killed her partner, branded the stunt “disrespectful”.

In January 2018 her partner Shane Gilmer, 30, was fatally injured by a crossbow brandished by their next-door neighbour Anthony Lawrence, 55.

He blamed the couple for his eviction from his home after they complained to his landlord and police about loud music and the smell of cannabis seeping into her asthmatic daughter’s bedroom.

He broke into their home via the loft and lay in wait for the couple to return home before attacking them.

“I can’t believe it’s even allowed on the show. It’s not regulated, but it’s a lethal weapon,’ she told The Sun.

‘I’ve been in a situation where I’ve lost somebody. For Britain’s Got Talent to showcase that as a prank I just find really disrespectful.’

Express.co.uk have contacted makers Freemantle and ITV for comment.

Britain’s Got Talent will return later this year.
