Bruno Tonioli ‘nearly killed’ Simon Cowell after BGT prank

BGT: Bruno could have ‘killed’ Simon after prank

Bruno Tonioli replaced David Walliams on Britain’s Got Talent, joining Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the judging panel. The new series, which is set to air later this year, saw thousands of performers taking to the stage in a bid to impress the judges. However, in a new interview, Bruno admitted the audition process didn’t run as smoothly as he’d hoped.

He went on to add that he was “furious” with Simon after he pulled a cruel prank on him.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge admitted before now, his stint on BGT “couldn’t happen”.

“It couldn’t happen for many reasons, it is destiny,” Bruno began.

“It was meant to happen and this is the right time and we had a ball.

“I can honestly say I had such a good time, it is brilliant.”

When asked about his stand-out moments from filming, Bruno continued: “There’s quite a few.

“There is something that happened that I wasn’t aware of because I’d never seen the show before.

“I didn’t know they [the judges] were doing a prank and I nearly killed him [Simon Cowell].

“I was furious,” Bruno added as he recalled what happened. “He pulled a prank on me and I really wasn’t expecting [it].

“I can’t reveal it but I am sure you will see it. I really thought it was for real, I was completely unaware.”

Earlier this year, one BGT audience member shared a clip to social media platform TikTok of the prank taking place.

At the Manchester auditions, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge was given a crossbow to fire at Simon.

The stunt came following an act who had been performing a routine that involved shooting balloons off someone’s head without hurting them.

When Simon and Bruno were invited on to the stage, Bruno was blindfolded and had to shoot an arrow at his co-star.

Although, unbeknown to Bruno, BGT staff had rigged up Simon so it looked like an arrow was sticking out of his chest.

The footage showed the new judge looking concerned as the music mogul lay on the floor.

Medics rushed over to attend to Simon as they played along with the prank.

However, while Simon was obviously fine, they really milked it, letting Bruno think he had shot the show boss.

Britain’s Got Talent is expected to return to ITV later this year.
