Casualty fans floored as they spot huge format change just minutes into episode

Casualty fans were distracted when they spotted what they thought was a huge format change at the start of the BBC One show.

As usual, the hit medical show was packed full of hospital drama on Saturday night (September 17), but it seems some viewers were more interested in the very first scenes of the episode.

In fact, viewers had only just tuned in and had barely gotten through the first two minutes of the show before they spotted a surprising stylistic shake-up.

The programme opened with chaotic scenes showing a man pedaling a blue bike furiously as if trying to escape someone or get somewhere in a hurry.

The bolting bloke, who was dressed in a suit, raced along the pavement and shouted: "Move!" before hurtling past a worried Sah, who replied: "Watch yourself!"

He narrowly avoided crashing headfirst into a car in the road before he entered the pavement and almost crashed into a woman with a pram.

Dramatic scenes saw him swerve the lady in panic, lose all control of his bike and smash through a window before he hit the floor with the shattered glass.

It was then that the show's signature intro credits began playing.

But many couldn't believe that the show was actually showing an accident happen in real time at the beginning of the episode.

One wrote: "Wehey – they actually filmed an accident for a change"

A second said: "Casualty actually including a proper accident for once… We LOVE to see it."

Another agreed: "So weird seeing Casualty actually include accidents for once but it's bl**dy needed!"

The man, Brian Dunlop, suffered a head injury and later got into a heated row with a former partner after he fumed he couldn't see his kids.

It transpired that the bloke was going to prison for drink-driving as he accidentally killed a girl with his car and his family had cut him off as a result.

He then takes Sah hostage and forced them to steal Jan's car drive them to his ex-wife's house, but they find it's empty.

After an attempt to take his own life with a knife, he is finally reunited with his kids in hospital.
