George Rainsford has sent fans of Casualty into a frenzy when he messaged director Duncan Foster commenting he ‘wouldn’t be around” later in the year. Could his character Ethan Hardy be set for a dramatic exit in the coming weeks?

George tweeted Duncan: “@duncanfo Lovely last ep of #Casualty. Some gorgeous shots (relatives room through the window, post crash birds-eye view etc!).@

Duncan swiftly replied: “Aw thanks George. Loved it down there and will be back in November. Hopefully the boys from Huddersfield get more than 2 scenes. X.”

Sadly it doesn’t seem like the two will get to work together on the show as George hinted at an exit.

“Glad they’ve got you back, I won’t be around then! Until the next time!” the actor replied.

Fans immediately picked up on his comment and rushed to question if it meant he will be leaving.

Sarah Hobbs asked: “Hi George, are you leaving?”

Jane Thomson added: “Please don’t say you’re leaving, you’re brilliant as Ethan!”

Further fuelling speculation of an exit, George shared a throwback shot on his Instagram page.

Posting a photo of one of his scripts, he captioned it: “Just clearing out my dressing room drawer and look what scene I found! #Casualty.”

It comes after Casualty has been off air for some time due to the sports coverage on the BBC.

The medical drama will however return to television screens on August 13 for the final episode of series 36.

The new series will start immediately on August 20 meaning fans won’t have to wait too long.

But as she gets her results, will she accept his support or push him away?

Meanwhile, Sah Brockner (Arin Smethurst) will be faced with a difficult choice regarding their father.

Sah learns their father has reunited with their estranged mother and struggles to spend time around the pair.

Sah is eventually forced to make a big decision about their future.

Casualty continues Saturday on BBC One.
