Channel 4 viewers confused as comedy shows yanked off air after Queen’s death
Channel 4 viewers have shared their confusion over the latest shake-up of the programme schedule following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
On Thursday (September 8), Buckingham Palace announced the devastating news about the monarch’s passing at the age of 96 in Balmoral Castle.
They released a touching statement, which read: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

The UK has now entered a period of national mourning which will last until seven days after her state funeral.
As a result, many of the nation’s TV channels have cancelled their planned schedules, with Channel 4 controversially removing many of their planned comedy shows on Friday.
And it’s fair to say the subtle change didn’t go unnoticed by viewers up and down the country as fans swarmed to Twitter to share their confusion online.
One user penned: “Weird things people do once the Queen died: Channel 4 have replaced King Of Queens/ Frasier with A Place In The Sun double bill.”
Another chimed in with: “Channel 4 is not showing comedy, why ban comedy! So stupid,” while a third echoed: “So @Channel4 takes the comedy off air this morning. Jesus wept [shocked emoji].”
Meanwhile one viewer pointed out: “Interested in the thought process behind Channel 4 respectfully replacing Frasier repeats with Escape to the Chateau.”
“What a***hole wiped out all of @Channel4’s schedule of comedy in the morning of c**p ‘A Place In The Sun’ just because the Queen is dead – that was yesterday’s news!” another fumed.
