Channel 4 News host Krishnan Guru-Murthy has been pulled off-air after the TV presenter swore at Northern Ireland minster Steve Baker.
On Wednesday (October 19), the veteran broadcaster grilled the Conservative MP following Suella Braverman's resignation as home secretary.
A clip later gained traction online – not from the flagship channel – but taken from a live feed of Downing Street where he conducted the interview.
Off-camera Guru-Murthy was heard arguing with the politician, with eyewitnesses revealing he branded the MP "what a c**t".
As the clip went viral on social media, the TV presenter apologised "unreservedly" on Twitter, who noted the remark followed a "robust interview" that was "beneath the standards I set myself".
He penned: "After a robust interview with Steve Baker MP I used a very offensive word in an unguarded moment off air.
"While it was not broadcast, that word in any context is beneath the standards I set for myself and I apologise unreservedly. I have reached out to Steve Baker to say sorry."
Mr Baker later replied on social media, tweeting: "I appreciate you apologising. Thank you."
The TV slip up is the latest in a string of controversies for Channel 4 News which has seen the show accused of anti-Tory bias.
Former culture secretary, Nadine Dorries, previously announced that she wanted the broadcaster to be privatised, noting the popular news programme had not done itself "any favours".
Addressing MPs earlier this year, the politician referred to reports that the former presenter, Jon Snow, allegedly shouted "f**k the Tories" at the 2017 Glastonbury Festival.
Back in May, she explained: "I have been on Channel 4 News a number of times. It is edgy. I am not going to justify a news programme whose anchor went out shouting obscenities about the Conservative Party.
"So they didn't do themselves any favours sometimes on the news programme and I think that is probably as much as I want to say about that."
