Channel 4s Scared Of The Dark hit by Ofcom complaints over rabbit welfare
Scared of the Dark has been hit with hundreds of Ofcom complaints related to concerns about the welfare of a rabbit.
In one of the challenges, the celebrities were asked to put their hands into a box and identify what was inside.
While some of the contestants were calm when feeling the contents of the box, one of which contained a live rabbit, the same couldn't be said for others who were frightened by the task.

It meant the celebrities were screaming while in close proximity of the animal and were poking around in at attempt to work out what was inside.
On 18 April, the Channel 4 programme was hit with 302 complaints as people raised concerns over the rabbit's welfare.
During the episode, viewers shared their dismay towards the challenge on social media as they slammed the broadcaster for using a live rabbit.
One fan fumed: "Just can’t believe someone at @channel4 thought it was a great idea to put a rabbit in a box in the dark that’s gonna be whacked and prodded with hands."
"#ScaredOfTheDark That poor rabbit. The way they grabbed and prodded it. They shouldn’t have put an animal in this when they can’t see it. They aren’t going to be gentle with it as they are scared. Horrible," added a second viewer.
Another person chimed in: "Oh. I’m enjoying this show but using a rabbit for this task is wrong.
"That was uncomfortable to watch, seeing them poke and grab at a poor rabbit in pitch black darkness. None of that please. There’s no need.."
Following the outrage, a representative for Channel 4 released a statement regarding the use of a rabbit in the challenge.
It read: "The welfare of the rabbits featured was of paramount importance throughout and their involvement was carefully planned following advice from the licensed company who cares for them, in compliance with the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.”
"The rabbits chosen are trained and well used to taking part in these types of activities and their handlers were present and represented the welfare of the animals whilst on set.
"Animal welfare facilities were provided and filming times were set following advice from the animal provider."
