Radio DJ Chris Moyles appeared to get along well with most contestants on this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! However, he made it clear he had issues with disgraced MP Matt Hancock during his time on the ITV programme. It looks as though Chris has now given Matt the ultimate snub following his jungle exit.
Matt came third place in this year’s series, lasting longer than Chris, Boy George and Mike Tindall.
Since being booted out of the jungle, Chris has started following many of his I’m A Celebrity co-stars on Instagram.
However, Matt’s account is noticeably missing from his following list.
Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver, who was voted out before Chris, doesn’t follow Matt either, which has sparked suggestions of a feud.
Chris had a “tense” talk with the former Health Secretary during his two weeks in camp.
He said: “There was a moment we got into a conversation and it got quite tense, I said, so when’s your book out?
“And he was like, ‘Next month’ and I didn’t know he had a book.
“The reason I got annoyed is because Seann [Walsh], who did something in his personal life and it hurt his career and mental health, came on the show to basically say I’m really not a bad guy, can I start again – which is really honest.
“Matt Hancock kind of dived around a few questions I thought, and then said, ‘I’m basically asking for forgiveness.’
“I had to walk out of camp and just get away because I personally found that quite fake and it really wound me up.”
He added: “l tried to get him to admit he won’t be a politician anymore and leave politics and won’t be an MP anymore, but he never did.”
Hundreds of I’m A Celebrity fans contacted media watchdog Ofcom as they were concerned Matt was being “bullied” by his co-stars.
Matt made it through to the final alongside Owen Warner and Queen of the Jungle, Jill Scott.
The celebrities will be speaking about their time Down Under on Thursday’s coming out show.
In the car on the way back to the production site following his exit, Matt said: “Of course, I’m curious to know how it’s gone, was I authentically me?”
His girlfriend Gina Colangelo replied: “It took a few days for you to relax.”
Matt added: “When I was being grilled in the early days, I felt like people were asking me on behalf of the British public.
“I knew going in it would be controversial but I also know millions of people have voted for me.”
On the drive back Matt broke into song, singing an Ed Sheeran song, to Gina’s embarrassment.
Back at the hotel, Matt asked Gina: “Did I look cool doing the terminator walk?”
She laughed at his question and said it was special to watch.
Gina was Matt’s aide when he was the Health Secretary during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
He was caught cheating on his wife with her and a picture of them kissing in Whitehall was shared across the British press last year.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! The Coming Out Show airs on Thursday at 9.15pm on ITV.
