Presenter Claudia Winkelman stepped in to comfort Hamza Yassin after he "choked" during his routine on the Strictly Come Dancing final.

The wildlife presenter was devastated after his second performance failed to impress the Strictly judges who were quick to spot errors throughout his dance.

But before hearing his scores, professional dancer Jowita Przystal expressed just how proud she was of him, despite his mishap, which left Hamza in tears.

Jowita said: "I need to tell you, I'm so proud of you, that you didn't stop and you continued and you made it happen."

Intervening, Claudia said: "Baby baby, you did. You were so brilliant.

"And you know what we also love about you Hamza, is that I said 'well done' earlier and you went 'oh no it's not me, it's a group effort.'

"You are always wanting to shine a light on everybody else, you really are. Well done."

Despite the fumbles during his ballroom dance Hamza scored 34 points from the judges.

When delivering her comments on his routine, judge Motsi Mabuse said: "You made a mistake and you moved on. Like we all do in our lives. The question is: did you touch us? Yes. Yes you did."

Meanwhile judge Craig Revel Horwood described the dance as "underwhelming".

But despite the negativity, fans were behind Hamza who went on to win the 2022 series.

Jumping on Twitter, one viewer wrote: "People saying Hamza's dance was underwhelming & boring. They're meant to showcase their ability & strengths. That suited him (despite mistakes). A number like Mollys would've been uncomfortable & awkward. #Strictly."

But another disagreed and penned: "As lovely as Hamza and Jovita's showdance was, it was a little underwhelming with them having been so exciting in the past. I now think this is Helen's to lose… and I don't mind. She's blossomed and would be a worthy winner."

While a third said: "Hamza should win. Lots of mistakes from the ladies. Rigged for Fleur from start. Public don't like her, bosses do. Producer used to be XFactor one who force fed before. Underwhelming contestants + series. Change head or get me to do it. Or end show. Lost its magic."
