Coronation Street Billy star ‘devastated’ over co-star’s exit
Coronation street star calls Rob Burrows an inspiration following his set visit
During Wednesday night’s episode of Coronation Street, Paul Foreman (played by Peter Ash) was charged with car theft after being caught trying to dispose of murdered Rufus Donahe (Steve Meo).
On top of the police charge, he finally received his official diagnosis that he had motor neurone disease.
Sat in Roys Rolls with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) told Paul that he was able to go to his hospital appointment with him.
However, not having told his boyfriend about the possible outcome of the appointment, Paul lied and said the hospital had cancelled.
Not wanting him to be by himself, Dee-Dee accompanied Paul to his appointment but they were both left stunned at the outcome.
The doctor informed Paul: “I’m very sorry Paul, but from what I’ve assessed today in your physical examination you do have Motor Neurone Disease.
“Some people die within three years, others live longer, the more we assess you the more information we’ll have about your specific case.”
Unable to process the news, Paul stood from his chair and left the doctor’s room leaving Dee-Dee to quickly follow behind.
Returning home, Billy was in a good mood and suggested to Paul that they should start attending dance classes together.

How long will Paul be able to keep his secret from Billy?
Actor Daniel Brocklebank recently opened up on how he felt when first finding out that Peter Ash would be leaving the show.
He told Express.co.uk: “I was well aware of how much publicity this will give MND and the MND association”
“[I am] obviously extremely sad and absolutely devastated to know that we will eventually have to lose Peter of course because I love working with him.”
He also touched on how he thought Billy will cope through the upcoming heartbreaking scenes and said: “I think on a personal level he is going to be heartbroken that his partner has been given this diagnosis.
“I think he will want to show strength for Paul and I think he will leave his sort of emotional bits on the quieter side, this isn’t about him it’s about Paul.
“It affects people in different ways and if people are given a diagnosis that is terminal people often start to grieve they have lost someone before they have.
“He is dealing with his own grief as well so it is a love story but told from a very different perspective.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
