Coronation Street fans fear for Max Turners safety as they predict major breakdown
Coronation Street fans have been left concerned for the wellbeing of Wetherfield youngster Max Turner, after Wednesday's night instalment saw him continuing to struggle to adjust to prison life.
Many viewers of the antics on the Cobbles fear he could be in danger with fellow inmates at the STC, after the strength of his bond with Daniel Osbourne becomes apparent.
Fans will remember troubled youth Max (played by Paddy Bever) – son of the late Callum Logan and Kylie Platt, and adopted son of former trouble-causer David Platt – being arrested after becoming embroiled in Griff's (Michael Condron) extremist gang.
The teen was later charged to six months at his local Secure Training Centre, where his former enemy Daniel Osbourne (played by Rob Mallard) has recently bagged a job.
But recent scenes have seen Max struggling to get on with his fellow inmates – living in fear of several of the other boys being detailed in the teenage facility.
And this week saw the youngster manage to get his hands on ex nemesis Daniel's phone, on which he recorded a secret video of himself admitting his worries and imploring for help, before slipping it back into his desk.
Having watched the heartbreaking video clip later, Daniel reaches out to Max with the hope of helping alleviate his grief, but the teen turns away.
Feeling like he has no way to turn, Max later decided to disrupt a class in the facility in the hope of getting approval from prison bad-boy Gav, who previously cornered him for getting close to teacher Daniel.
And fans are now worried about what the future could hold for Max, with Daniel not yet having told other STC officials the extent of the youngster's mental health struggles.
"Daniel could have said to the counsellor that he has a strong feeling that from the way Max has been talking & acting, he is vulnerable and they must keep an eye on him. Lay it on thick before it's too late. He's struggling and needs support," one fan tweeted.
Another penned: "By Daniel withholding serious info on Max’s mental health- to cover his a**e about having his phone in prison he is putting Max at risk & preventing him getting appropriate support & intervention from professionals #Corrie"
A third added, "That scene about Daniel wanting to get max mental health help and him being refused is proof people are struggling on their own with MH #Corrie", whilst another wondered, "Is Mad Max II going to have a breakdown."
Coronation Street continues every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
