Queens for the Night viewers in stitches as soap legends transform themselves for new ITV drag show | The Sun

QUEENS For The Night viewers were left in hysterics as a duo of the nation's best-loved soap stars "smashed it" on the new series.

The ITV show saw a host of celebrities channel their inner drag queens in a competition like no other.

Coronation Street favourite Simon Gregson and ex EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt battled it out to become the best Queen of the evening.

They were joined on Queens For The Night's debut show by cast members Mr Motivator, George Shelley, Chris Hughes and Joe Marler.

Simon was crowned the Queen for the Night as he donned a blonde wig in a ponytail and eye-popping purple make-up.

The Steve McDonald actor finished off his Bidet Bardot look with a striking pink and black leather strappy corset top.

Meanwhile Adam went for gothic glam with a high collar black gown.

Layers of ice blonde curls were piled on his head to complete the dramatic transformation into Madame MiMi D’YooYoo.

He previously told The Sun how show bosses wanted to dub his drag queen Alberta Square, referring to his former soap role.

Despite Simon bagging the overall title, ITV viewers were equally impressed by both actors.

One gushed: "Simon Gregson as Bidet Bardot the ultimate queen 😂"

A second put: "I’m sorry but Simon Greyson, AKA Steve from Corrie looks f**king fabulous in drag #queensforthenight," as a third continued: "Simon Gregson was a worthy winner of #QueensForTheNight but I was surprised that Adam Woodyatt was not also in the top 3."

A fourth then wrote: "Simon gregson has been steve mcdonald for 30yrs then he hits the stage as a drag queen for the night & boy is he hilarious wtf😂😂😂😂😂."

Another then requested: "Ok can we please get Adam and Simon as drag queens more?! #QueensForTheNight."

One then surmised: "Simon Gregson has a new career – he was truly brilliant and I loved Adam Woodyatt he was in character all along. #QueensForTheNight," as another concluded: "Simon Gregson smashing it #QueensForTheNight."

Simon underwent the ultimate drag makeover – which is miles away from what he's used to on the Corrie cobbles.

When asked what kind of drag queen he thought he will be ahead of the series, Simon replied: "I think I’ll be a larger-than-life drag queen, very loud.

"I think that fits in with me quite well."

Meanwhile, ever since his departure from EastEnders, Adam has been taking up other opportunities such as I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

When asked if he was nervous about his performance on the show, he replied: "What can possibly go wrong? Well, I can forget my lines for one. I could trip over the dress.

"I could trip over my heels and my wig could fall over my eyes. Who knows what could happen on the night! "

Household telly name Lorraine Kelly hosted the new programme.

She was joined by the judging panel which is made up of Spice Girl and pop icon Melanie C, stand-up comedian Rob Beckett, World famous Drag artist Courtney Act and star of Bad Education and West End hit Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Layton Williams.
