Coronation Street spoilers: Bernie Winter given shocking opportunity | The Sun

BERNIE Winter narrowly escaped a lengthy prison sentence in recent months as her doppelganger wreaked havoc.

Next week, however, the Coronation Street schemer gets the chance of a lifetime when it's clear she has a secret talent.

With Fern becoming a mere bad memory, Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) has been enjoying a more peaceful routine in the cobbles.

In later 2022, she began to show what she's capable of on a golf course and first expressed interest in the sport in the Roy's Rolls Café.

However, in scenes due to air on ITV, she's furious to hear from her son-in-law Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) that Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) let her win at golf, taking pity on her.

Dev soon contradicts Chesney, admitting Bernie was terrific at the game and the team would be lucky to have her amongst them.

Upon their return from the golfing range, Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) is convinced Dev let her mother win again but he insists – Bernie really IS a natural.

Later on at No.5, Bernie tells how the Ladies' Captain reckons they'll waive the membership fee… and offer her a scholarship.

Bernie is over the moon but Dev can only try his best to appear pleased for her.

His daughter Asha (Tanisha Gorey) later calls him out by telling him that he should be proud of Bernie's golfing skills rather than jealous.

While that remains to be seen, the new storyline will undoubtedly be a breath of fresh air for Bernie as she narrowly escaped a prison sentence.

As mentioned above, Bernie struggled with her doppelganger Fern in Weatherfield due to her penchant for robberies.

To make matters worse, Fern would steal Bernie's identity for her dastardly deeds to avoid any trouble.

Bernie eventually had to find proof of Fern's existence as the authorities struggled to believe she was innocent.

Could her golfing skills alienate her from the ones she love?

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV.
