Coronation Street star Ellie Leach breaks silence after Faye Windass' exit with emotional speech to fans | The Sun

CORONATION Street actress Ellie Leach has broken her silence after her character Faye Windass quit the iconic Cobbles.

Last month, we reported how the popular soap star, 22, was leaving the show after 12 years.

Fortunately for Ellie, who is the cousin of former co-star Brooke Vincent, Corrie scriptwriters have saved her character from the death knell.

Yet for some soap fans her final storyline – which played out on ITV last night – was "rushed."

She left Weatherfield in a packed vehicle with ex-boyfriend Jackson and their daughter Miley.

Ellie has now taken to Coronation Street's Instagram account for a sweet farewell video.

She told the camera: "Just want to say a massive, massive thank you to everyone who has watched Corrie over the past 12 years and supported me.

"And also to my Corrie family, I am going to miss you all so much.

"And yeah just thank you so much to everyone who has always said nice words and really supported me."

A montage then followed of her Corrie best bits.

Her emotional message came after Ellie revealed the toe-curling prop she stole from the Corrie set.

Ellie told the Daily Star of her sneaky behaviour on Corrie's Salford Quays set.

The actress admitted: "I actually took quite a few of her clothes which, to be fair, I've always said she’s not really got very good style, Faye.

"But she’s got the odd little piece, like she’s got a cute little jacket or a pair of jeans or a pair of trainers.

"I did take a pair of Faye’s pyjamas actually which I've not had off since."

Yet on a less orthodox note, she confessed: "I think it’s always nice to have a little bit of her with me and I also did keep – because I have a little memory box at home – I've got a sparkly green fingernail from when she dropped her stick-on nail down Ted’s sink.

"So I've kept a stick-on nail which is sparkly green and that’ll remind me that I ran over an old man."

Faye was referring to a plotline last year which saw her run over Ted on a driving lesson.

Meanwhile, Ellie has tackled some gritty storylines on the cobbles, including teen pregnancy, early menopause and was even sent to prison for attacking a neighbour.
