Coronation Street star in hospital after injury and hoping to 'avoid surgery'

Coronation Street star Bhavna Limbachia has shared an update with fans following an injury to her thumb.

The actress, who played Rana Habeeb on the ITV soap, posted a picture of herself in hospital as she had her thumb looked at by doctors, revealing to her online followers that the injury might require surgery.

‘Got a lot of movement back in my thumb but still not fully healed,’ she wrote on her Instagram stories.

‘I’m keeping everything crossed to avoid surgery.’

Bhavna, 39, didn’t reveal what happened to her thumb.

The soap star departed Coronation Street back in 2019, with fans left shocked as Rana was killed off on the day of her wedding to Kate Connor (Faye Brooks), after she was crushed when the factory roof collapsed.

Rana’s exit drew some criticism from the LGBTQ+ community, but Bhavna subsequently defended the scenes, saying: ‘My decision to leave and to be killed off was never intended to offend the LGBTQ+ community.

‘It was made in the same way I’ve tried to portray the character throughout the years and that’s with truth and integrity.

‘My decision to leave and to have her killed off was made with the decision on two people being in love and their love being pure – regardless of their age, gender, sexuality, religion.

‘I guess it was a modern day Romeo and Juliet but with a Juliet and Juliet love story.’

Bhavna landed a film role alongside Frasier legend Kelsey Grammer soon after her departure, sharing a snap with the US TV star on her Instagram back in 2020.
