Coronation Street viewers slammed the latest twist in Daisy Midgeley's stalking ordeal as police continued to play down Justin's obsession with her.

A concerned Daisy headed back to the police station after Justin got hold of her phone number from a delivery and proceeded to bombard her with texts – including one terrifying message where he claims he would 'rather die' than never be with her and that he 'knows' she feels the same.

However, when she airs her concerns to PC Scott he plays down the seriousness of the messages telling her that in his experience these situations 'rarely' develop into acts of violence.

The biggest shock of all comes when Daisy returns home from filing her report at the police station to see that PC Scott has scrolled back through her social media and liked all her old holiday bikini snaps.

Furious viewers then took to Twitter to slam the plot twist – and call out police officers who don't take harassment and stalking claims seriously.

One wrote: "Wow, that copper… What a disgusting thing to do to an already traumatised girl."

A second added: "Wow what a creep,no wonder people feel like they can't report these sort of crimes."

A third said: "So worried for Daisy right now and sad thing is this reflects reality perfectly. More has to be done to protect vulnerable women from stalkers."

A fourth social media user Tweeted: "A storyline where a pretty girl is being hounded by a stalker (creepy) reports to the police only to find that the officer that took her details liked all her holiday pics! As if the force isn't in enough trouble. You just couldn't make this up!"

A fifth said: "Daisy should have asked the officer, if it was a female member of his family, how would he react. How would he feel. This is dreadful. How can any woman feel safe if the police do nothing."

Elsewhere in the episode concerns grew for Max after a prison visit from Alya prompted him to call David Platt and ask him to come for a visit with the rest of their family.

Fans of the show became convinced that Max may be preparing to take his own life and wanting to say goodbye first.

One viewer commented: "I am worried Max is going to do something silly like kill himself."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm
