Coronation Street's Kate Spencer reveals she’s working very normal job after soap exit | The Sun

CORONATION Street star Kate Spencer revealed she's working in a theatre box office between onstage roles.

The actress, who rose to fame playing Grace Vickers in the ITV soap, has swapped the cobbles to work at Derby Theatre.

Kate, 29, said she was chuffed to land a last minute role in Alex Wheatle’s novel adapted for stage Home Girl, while selling tickets at the box office.

"From working on the Box Office, to rehearsing on stage an hour later," she said.

"I may have sweated through my leggings, but the smile says it all.

"A whirlwind couple of days but it was a joy to join the company of #HomeGirl for its run @derbytheatre.

"55 hours, 3 performances and a whole lot of love on that stage.

It's not the first time Kate has branched out from acting recently, working as an estate agent part-time during the Covid pandemic.

The star revealed she had turned to property to get some "regularity" in her life as her role on the soap quietened down.

"Today was the last day at the part-time job I did during lockdown," she wrote alongside two photos of herself clutching flowers and a balloon.

"Huge shoutout to @BelvoirLetsWB for welcoming me in with open arms, teaching me all about property, giving me some sort of regularity over the last year and always having a giggle."

Alongside the beaming snaps, which saw the star dressed in office-ready attire outside her workplace, she concluded: "10months of gratefulness."

It comes after Kate revealed she's married her fiancé Paul Walker in June – a year after his romantic proposal.

She took to her Instagram to confirm the big day was going ahead on and gushed over the great weather.

Last June, Kate, 29, revealed she'd said yes to her beau Paul, showing off her engagement ring after his incredible restaurant proposal.

She told fans that he asked her that "all the tears" happened as he got down on one knee by the table at a swanky steak eatery.

Kate's Coronation Street character Grace was seen leaving the cobbles in episodes that aired earlier this year.

Luckily for Kate, she's been kept busy by her passions, including mentoring children in foster care and volunteering at a local theatre.

“I like doing other things, so I currently work in a box office as well – with Coronation Street’s approval," she told the Mirror.

“If I’ve got a quiet time with my storyline, I go back to Derby and work in the box office. I’ve been there for five years.”

She added: “I also mentor young people in foster care, and I lecture at my old drama school. I really enjoy it. I learn a lot about myself."
