Coronation Street resident Toyah (played by Georgia Taylor) has had a turbulent year after her husband Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) died in a car accident she caused. Shortly after, her old boyfriend Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) arrived back in Weatherfield but he was hiding a dark secret.
When he arrived back on the cobbles, the pair rekindled their romance and picked up where they left off.
However, their relationship was strained when Spider began to blow Toyah off for his friend Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron).
When Toyah confronted Spider about their issues, he couldn’t tell her the truth, as he is working undercover with the police.
His aim is to bust Griff’s extremist group, who now has groomed Max Turner (Paddy Beaver) into thinking they are doing the right thing.
During tonight’s episode, Griff took Max, Spider and the rest of his gang on a camping trip, telling Max it would “toughen” him up.
While in the woods, Griff forced Max to skin a rabbit alive despite standing up to him and saying he didn’t want to.
Spider spoke to Max after the incident, admitting that if he was made to do it he would feel the same, but Max admitted that he wanted to make Griff proud.
Later, Griff bundled into the car with Griff and a member of their gang, before a live bomb went off in the boot, burning Max.
Spider demanded that he and Griff take Max to a hospital, where Griff lied about being his father in order to manipulate what Max said about the incident.
Griff told the nurse that they were in the woods when their gas canister exploded and Max took the brunt of the heat.
The nurse questioned the story, but after one quick look from Griff, he corroborated it and claimed it was the gas from their electric stove.
Spider took Max back home, before calling the station where he spoke to a member of his team, claiming they needed to move quicker on Griff before he hurt anyone else.
As he walked out of the alleyway, he was confronted by Toyah: “Sorry, did I interrupt your little chat with your racist mates?”
Spider replied: “I know you hate me right now but you have it all wrong,” however Toyah angrily jibed: “No you have. Do you know what, I don’t even care enough about you anymore.
“I hate you. I know this much, you have gone from being someone that I loved once to being a vicious, hate-filled thug. Who are you!”
Spider revealed: “All this, everything is a lie. I am not a racist, I am not a thug, and I am not one of Griff’s lackeys like the rest of them, I am doing this to try and stop him before he hurts someone else.
“I couldn’t tell you before, shouldn’t tell you now, but everything is messed up. I don’t know if I can do this anymore.
“I’m an undercover police officer…” Toyah shook her head in disbelief and claimed: “No, your lying.
“Why would you say something like that, you stay away from me do you hear me? Leave me alone,” before walking away and leaving Spider by himself.
Now that Spider’s secret is out, could Toyah’s rage against him force her to expose his true intentions and risk his case against Griff?
If Griff finds out about Spider, his life could be in danger to stop him from exposing Griff’s true intentions too early.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
