Corrie fans go wild as Simon Gregson wins Queens For The Night after drag makeover

Coronation Street fans went wild on Saturday night as Steve McDonald star Simon Gregson won ITV special Queens For The Night.

The actor, 48, underwent a makeover as he transformed into drag queen Bidet Bardot, where he delivered an incredible stand-up comedy routine to the judges – Courtney Act, Rob Beckett, Melanie C and Layton Williams.

In preparation, Simon received help from mentor Myra DuBois as he had to walk around the famous Corrie cobbles in a pair of high heels.

During his routine on Saturday's show, Simon delivered one-liners such as: "Now, Lorraine, you are very proud of your Scottish roots, aren't you? Well from here, love, it looks like they need redoing."

The judges were left seriously impressed as Rob said "you should be so proud", Courtney said "you really pulled it off", Layton gushed "I loved it!" and Mel C added: "It was just amazing."

And at the end of the episode, it was revealed that Simon had won the show as he received a crown, sash and his own throne.

To which he said of the win: "I'm in shock! I've never won anything in my life and I had to put on a pair of boobs to do it!"

Viewers were left delighted over the win as they insisted they need a series not a one-off special of the ITV show.

One person said: "Loved #QueensForTheNight the best won, Simon was brilliant. Shame only was one/off, ITV should have kept it back for Christmas just the sort of fun show needed then."

A different account put: "Bidet was very funny, but so is Simon Gregson on #Corrie he's a natural comedian. Always loved him. Well done Queen….. #QueensForTheNight."

Another follower wrote: "Yes!!! Well done Simon, you were my fave! #queensforthenight."

While a different fan said: "Bidet Bardot killed it #QueensForTheNight."

Elsewhere, one person wrote: "Yes we need a series of it and one gets eliminated each episode anyone agrees with me please."

A different account put: "Legitimately the best thing I've watched all year – just so much joy and enthusiasm, it was wonderful!"

While another person added: "This show needs to be brought back as a series."
