Coronation Street fans are sure that they've finally exposed the identity of Hope Stape's online pal Mad Dog – and it's a lot closer to home than first expected.

Hope has been chatting to the online gamer for months, feeding them information about her dad John Stape, something Tyrone and Fiz only found out about this week.

As Hope made a slip-up telling her pal her nan Evelyn's age as 92 after an offhand comment from Ty, her parents were immediately clued in, and certain Mad Dog is the journalist writing things about Stape's crimes.

But now fans have rumbled a huge twist which could see Hope's pal Sam Blakeman acting as the middle man, and think he could be the one passing the information onto the reporter.

Taking to Twitter, one fan asked: "Is Sam not Mad Dog on #Corrie?", while someone else replied: "Yes!"

Another theorised: "#Corrie I’m betting Mad Dog is actually Sam leaking info to the journalist?"

Later in the episode, Hope was found in Victoria Gardens with Sam after some girls at school bullied her over the newspaper column.

Other fans initially thought John Stape could still be alive and was contacting Hope – or that it could be her half-sister Jade come back to haunt her.

Nick fumed at Fiz that Sam is "easily led" and presumed Hope had dragged him out of school to bunk off, snapping: "Maybe Hope should keep her distance from now on?"

And when Ty confronted the irate dad about it, it resulted in Nick being punched in the face, and Sam's walkie-talkie confiscated as he said: "Over and out" for a final time.

Elsewhere in Wednesday's episode (November 2), Summer Spellman confirmed she hadn't gone through with the abortion and was planning to sell her baby to Esther.

Summer left Aaron gobsmacked as she confronted him with the truth that she's selling her baby to raise money for Aaron's dad to attend rehab.

£10,000 richer and with monthly payments in store, Summer tried her best to convince Aaron that it was for the best, insisting it will do "so much good".
