Corries Audrey murder twist sealed as fans work out sick Stephen plot

Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Audrey Roberts is going to be murdered by her son – and they reckon they know how.

The soap icon, played by Sue Nicholls, has been going through a rough patch and even tried to take her own life by overdosing on pills.

Her son Stephen (Todd Boyce) – who she shares with Geoff Masters – is back on the cobbles and in need of cash.

So fans are predicting he will kill her off for her money and use her previous suicide attempt to cover it up.

One viewer wrote on Reddit: "He finds out about Audrey trying to take her own life, and he still needs money so he kills her (or tries to) and tries to make it look like suicide."

"Honestly I could see that happening," another person agreed.

Someone else said: "This wouldn’t surprise me. Honestly I thought her suicide attempt was going to Stephen's fault in the first place, I thought he'd been slipping her sleeping pills without telling her."

One fan posted: "Audrey and Sue Nicholls is one character and actress who her leaving would be announced and built up to, however, Stephen trying to kill her I could see happening."

"Is there still a sinkhole?" asked another viewer. "I hope someone chucks him in the sinkhole."

Some other theories about what Stephen might do are also doing the rounds online.

One fan of the ITV soap suggested that he could sabotage something in the salon to electrocute his mum.

Another teased: "I think the ghost of Richard Hillman will start another fire at her home to finish her off personally."

Sue, 78, is one of Corrie's best-loved stars.

She joined the soap as Audrey Roberts in 1979 before taking a break in 1982.

Two years later she returned to the cobbles and she has been there ever since.
