Daisy Cooper's mum breaks silence on Bond role and reveals secret behind star's weight loss | The Sun

AFTER it was revealed that actress Daisy May Cooper is in talks to join the Bond franchise as spy chief ‘M,’ the star’s mum has had her say.

Daisy May’s mum Gillian Cooper admitted her daughter would be a “fantastic choice” to play the iconic role, which was last held by heavyweights Dame Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes.

That said, Gillian also admitted that Daisy thinks the suggestion is “hilarious.”

Gillian shared: “Daisy's everywhere at the moment, I'll scramble through my phone and her picture will come up.

“She was with me this morning and we saw the story in the news about her playing 'M' in the new Bond movies and she thought it was hilarious.”

She also commented on Daisy’s co-star and brother Charlie and how the pair are just as talented as each other.

Gillian added to MailOnline: “I'm unbelievably proud of Daisy and Charlie. The two of them are just incredible.”

Discussing Daisy’s potential Bond role, she said: “'I don't know if someone's put her name forward, but she'd be perfect, and it'd be a really different direction for her and for the Bond films because she'd put back a bit of humour.

“She'd be a fantastic choice for them if they did it. But it's the first she's heard about it.”

Film insiders say the unlikely casting talks came after the success of This Country star Daisy’s close pal Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 37, joining the franchise as a script consultant.

Producers are said to feel the time is right for a sweeping overhaul of the long-running blockbusters.

It would coincide with a new leading man replacing Daniel Craig who stepped down as the British Secret Service agent at the end of the last film, No Time To Die.

A source told us earlier this week: “Daisy is a close pal of Phoebe, whose involvement in Bond was such a success that it sparked an unlikely conversation.

“Suddenly the production team were getting excited about the prospect of really taking ‘M’ in a different direction.

“With Daniel leaving, it seemed the time to start looking at changes across the board and the dynamic between Bond and ‘M’ is at the heart of the films.

“So this opens the door to it being a bit lighter and more comedic going forwards — and will of course impact the direction the new 007 goes in too.”

Daisy’s mum also commented on her recent weight loss transformation, after she lost several stone.

The star split from her husband and father of two kids, Will Weston, in 2021, but her mum cites her busy work schedule as being behind the weight loss, as opposed to a Keto diet or her break up.

“Daisy's gone through a bit of an image change recently and looks amazing but I don't think she's actually doing the Keto diet anymore, I think she's just working so hard,” she said.

Adding: “She's being pulled in a lot of directions, which is amazing, but it means her feet don't really touch the ground.

“What prompted the image change I don't know, I think she is just stepping out on her own for the first time.

“She'd always been in a relationship and this is the first time in a while she's lived the single life.”
