Loose Women star Denise Welch shared an emotional tribute for Paul O'Grady after his sad passing.

The 64-year-old said Paul had a "cheeky sense of humour" and recalled having the "best night of her life" with the TV legend.

"I can't believe it," she said of the news. "He left such a legacy, he was one of the loveliest, he was so lovely.

"Having a b***h session with Paul would be the best night of your life," she told viewers. "He didn't hold back but he was never cruel."

Denise went on to make the audience laugh as she detailed one experience with Paul and Cilla Black, when he "plied her with champagne" before a chat with the Loose Women panel.

"He thought it was the best thing ever in the entire world!"

"He had a cheeky sense of humour and it'll be a huge miss but what a legacy," she tearfully said after having a chuckle while reminiscing.

Paul's husband Andre Portasio sadly announced that Paul had passed "unexpectedly but peacefully."

In a statement, he said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.

"I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."

Paul leaves behind husband Andre, who he married in 2017, daughter Sharon, who he had with close friend Diane Jansen in 1977 and his grandkids through Sharon, Abel and Halo.

He also leaves numerous farm animals and dogs that he kept at his farm residence in Ashford.
