Dinner Date couple end marriage after he didnt make her dinner for nine years

A couple who wed after being on ITV’s Dinner Date have split – after the woman claimed her husband never cooked a proper meal in nine years together.

Jemma Simpson and Edd Rodgers were the only pair on the ITV dating game show to marry and have a baby.

But Jemma said: “He cooked for us on the show but then he didn’t really cook me a single meal since. He’s never cooked me a three-course meal since, put it that way.

“When he comes round now to see our daughter, I usually still end up cooking for him.”

However, Jemma says their break-up had nothing to do with food.

The couple decided to call it quits after they drifted apart and started sleeping in separate beds.

Jemma, 39, married fire-fighter Edd, 42, in 2013, three years after they appeared on the show, which features lovelorn singletons cooking up a three-course meal for a lucky guy or girl.

It was shortly after Edd won £18,000 on the game show Deal Or No Deal.

But they ended their relationship after struggling through three years of IVF and becoming “more like flatmates” once baby Ember was born in 2016.

Jemma said Edd’s gruelling work schedule and long hours, plus a change in their relationship after Ember’s birth, led to a mutual decision to split.

She insists they are still friends.

Now the salon owner from Alvechurch, Worcestershire, who has since had a baby with another man, feels ready to find love again – and she’s keen to get back on TV to do it.

She said: “I was thinking about applying for First Dates or First Dates Hotel.”

Edd declined to comment.
