Doctors explosion episode axed due to Turkey and Syria earthquake
Today’s episode of Doctors has been pulled from schedules in the wake of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
The news was confirmed by the BBC One soap’s official Twitter account, which wrote: ‘In light of news in Turkey and Syria, today’s billed episode of Doctors will be replaced with Animal Park Heroes.’
The episode of the daytime drama in question would’ve seen an explosion rip through a medical conference, with a number of main characters caught up in the horrifying event.
Daniel, Zara, Emma and Al find themselves trapped in the rubble at the very beginning of the episode, before the show takes us back in time to reveal what led to the explosion.
The number of casualties, and the outcome of the episode, remain unknown.
The decision to reschedule the outing was made following news of the two earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
More than 11,000 people have been killed and thousands more left injured in 10 provinces across the Turkish-Syrian border after strong earthquakes of 7.7- and 7.6-magnitudes hit the region on Monday.
There is currently no word on when the episode will air.
The offering in question would’ve featured one of the first appearances from newcomer Dr Nina Bulsara, who is played by Coronation Street legend Wendi Peters, who portrayed Cilla Battersby-Brown on the ITV soap.
Dr Nina comes from a very well bought up background, married to a consultant who passed away from a stroke, she is just set on entering Letherbridge with a mission, she knows what she wants and hopefully she’ll get it,’ said Wendi in a previous interview, discussing her character.
Doctors airs weekdays at 1:45pm on BBC One.
