Dramatic kidnap twist revealed for Gemma in Coronation Street
Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) inadvertently lands herself in a bit of trouble soon in Coronation Street, as she attempts to confront a teacher at Weatherfield Primary, who tells Joseph (William Flanagan) off for using British Sign Language.
BSL is something Gemma and Chesney’s (Sam Aston) household started learning following the birth of Aled – one of the quads who was born deaf.
Once Gemma gets word that Joseph was told off by his teacher at school, she heads over there looking for answers.
When Mrs York is completely dismissive of Joseph’s BSL skills, a furious Gemma and Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) stage a sit-in in a classroom, demanding that the school teaches BSL to all pupils.
Joined by Michael (Ryan Russell) – who pops in to talk about Glory starting nursery – Mrs York locks the classroom door and announces to the characters they can stay in there all night.
And they do.
After a night in, Gemma tells Mrs York that either she agrees to introduce BSL, or they’ll report her to the police for kidnapping.
Fortunately, it’s good news as in the café, Gemma, Bernice and Michael celebrate their victory over Mrs York.
Thank goodness.
