EastEnders airs double exit following shocking betrayal by Sharon Watts

EastEnders has aired the departure of two characters just over a week after they arrived.

Soap veteran Lisa Fowler left Walford with her granddaughter Peggy with the help of Sharon Watts, who betrayed her fiancee Keanu Taylor in the process.

It has been a tense week in Walford, but in tonight's episode, it appeared that Keanu had finally made a breakthrough to see his daughter Peggy.

Keanu had taken Lisa and Peggy's passports to give him time to see where he stood legally to stop Lisa from taking Peggy back to Portugal.

As he prepared to take the legal advice further, Sharon and her housemate Martin Fowler helped Lisa by putting the passports back. Sharon then went to meet Keanu, and as the couple walked through the square, Keanu spotted Lisa getting in a taxi with his young daughter.

He chased the taxi as it left Walford, but when he realised that it wasn't stopping, he fell to the ground. As Keanu chased the cab, Sharon looked at Martin to say that Keanu can't find out about what they have done.

Sharon chased after her man and held him as he sobbed. In heartbreaking scenes, Keanu then told Sharon that his little girl is gone.

These betrayal scenes have aired just months before the huge Christmas storyline that is set to feature both Sharon and Keanu. Sharon is one of the six women, who featured in a special flash forward episode earlier this year.

The special episode gave a glimpse into Christmas Day 2023 in Walford, and for one character it is their last Christmas. One male ends up dead in the episode, and despite the identity of the body being kept under wraps, Keanu is one of the men who fans are speculating about.

Sharon is in the Queen Vic wearing a white wedding dress in the episode, and that ties in with the fact that the pair are planning their wedding. Speculation is rife on social media about what may happen in the coming months.

After Thursday's episode one fan tweeted: "If Keanu is the dead body, maybe he will find out about Sharon's plan after the reception, and then he tries to attack her. Just one theory."

While one fan wondered: "Is this a clue to Christmas, as secrets don’t stay secret for long."

Stacey Slater, Kathy Beale, Suki Panesar, Denise Fox, and Linda Carter are also in the pub when the body is on the floor.
