EastEnders fans in hysterics as Danny Dyer says hes made it to shore in clip

EastEnders fans couldn’t hide their amusement on Monday, as Danny Dyer, the star who played iconic Mick Carter in the BBC poked fun at his exit from the show in a hilarious Instagram video.

The veteran star of the square bowed out of the soap on Sunday, after nine years on the long running British soap opera.

The character was killed off in true soap style as part of this year’s Christmas Day episode, when he tried to save his ex-wife Linda (played by Kellie Bright), after she and Janine drove off a cliff and into the English Channel.

Diving into the water to save the love of his life, fans couldn’t hold back the tears as he swam out into the sea, only to be lost to the dark waves.

Just one day on from his dramatic exit, Danny poked fun at his own time on screen, as he shared a short video clip on social media of himself sunning it up on a tropical beach.

With his trademark swagger, a shirtless Danny told fans: “Don’t worry, I know it was emotional last night. I know it was a very, very, nutty episode, but don’t be concerned, because I f*****g made it!”

He then turned his head to glance out at a stunning blue ocean over his shoulder, before turning back to the camera to add: “I mean, it was a c***t of a swim, but let me tell you now it was worth it.”

With a sigh he then joked: “Mick needed a rest, it was time for him to move on to a new chapter.”

In a slight deviation from his playful jest, Danny then took a moment to offer a sincere message of gratitude to all of his cast-mates on EastEnders.

He gushed: “I want to take this opportunity to thank all my cast-mates, every single one of you, I love you all very dearly. I’m very honoured to have worked with you for as long as I have and I’ll relish those moments for the rest of my life.

“I’m not going to name names, there’s too many of you, but of course my Carter family that mean everything to me, it’s the end of an era, and I really appreciate and am very grateful for the years I’ve had running the Queen Vic.”

With sentimentality out of the way, Danny then returned to his trademark humour as he flashed a grin and continued to speak with a drink in his hand.

“So again, don’t stress – and especially the fans who have voted for me and invested in Mick and made him the character that he is – but he had to get away! Janine was driving him f*****g mad,” he said.

Before finally concluding: “So Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and don’t worry about Mick alright? Because he’s sweet as a f*****g nut.”

Within one hour of the video being shared, the post had wracked up over 60,000 likes, were countless fans flooding the comments section with messages of delight at the tongue in cheek response to his exit.

“Phew!!! You were all superb last night! Congratulations on gripping the nation. Now enjoy the rest of your jollies,” wrote one fan.

While another wrote: “Total Legend! All the best Danny!”

Before a third added: “The absolute best nine years… definitely the end of an era that’s for sure, but it’s been the best one. you have created such a LEGACY. we love you so so much!! cant wait for the next chapter.”
